Community Engagement Ambassadors (CEA) support our outreach effort by serving as a friendly presence at a specific section of North Broad Street. As a CEA, you will provide check-ins with local businesses, canvass specific areas and help us ensure that the corridor is well maintained and welcoming.
This is a paid, seasonal opportunity that will take place from May 2025 through October 2025 (though additional opportunities may arise) . This opportunity falls under our paid volunteer program. All paid volunteer opportunities have the potential to lead to employment opportunities.
The North Broad Renaissance (NBR) is a nationally recognized, growing non-profit that currently manages both the North Broad Business Improvement District and the North Broad Special Service District. The organization is doing the important work of vitalizing North Broad Street by improving its economic vitality and overall quality of life. Our work around cleaning, greening, safety, business attraction, business retention, and employment is directly impacting more than 50,000 residents, in eight neighborhoods, from City Hall to Butler Street.
The ideal candidate will have a greater understanding of the organization’s cause, be motivated to help increase public safety and community quality of life, and have above-par interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Event Outreach: Promote upcoming NBR events (such as the Summer aBroad series) by visiting local businesses, apartment complexes, and community spaces to share information and encourage participation.
- Commercial Space Vacancy Canvassing: Walk and canvass designated areas to identify vacant commercial properties and storefronts available for lease or sale.
- Business and Community Engagement: Conduct regular check-ins with businesses and community members to provide updates, share resources, gather feedback, and strengthen relationships along the corridor.
- Quality of Life Reporting: Identify and report issues such as graffiti, litter, overflowing trash cans, and unmaintained planters to ensure the corridor remains clean, safe, and welcoming.
- Community Support: Provide light assistance to community members (for example, answering questions about transportation, giving directions, or pointing out nearby businesses).
Requirements:
- Must have a positive and pleasant attitude.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must wear CEA uniform (provided by the NBR).
- Must track findings and share feedback.
- Ability to work Tuesdays through Thursdays between 11am and 4 p.m.
- Must attend online training session.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be comfortable working in an outdoor environment and able to walk at least a two-mile distance.
- Must be reliable.
Compensation:
$100 per completed assignment
